Book Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. WOW… this book made me feel everything.

At first, I thought it was just going to be a sad book about cancer, but it’s actually way more than that. It’s about two teenagers, Hazel and Augustus, who meet at a support group and become really close. They’re both dealing with serious illnesses, but they still joke around, fall in love, and try to live normal lives. I really liked how funny they were, even when things were hard.

Hazel is super smart and kind of sarcastic, which I liked because she doesn’t pretend everything is okay. Augustus is charming and says these big, deep things that are sometimes confusing but also really sweet. Their relationship felt real, not like a perfect fairy tale, which made it even better (and sadder).

One of my favorite parts was when they go on a trip together—it felt like a little break from all the heavy stuff, and it showed how much they cared about each other. But also… I cried. Like, a lot. This is definitely not a book you can read without tissues nearby.

What I liked most is that the book talks about life and death in a way that made me think, but it wasn’t boring or too hard to understand. It made me appreciate little things more, like spending time with people you love.

I would recommend this book to people who like emotional stories and don’t mind crying. It’s probably better for middle school or older because it’s pretty intense.
